Title: Number Balls Purpose: Solving one-step algebraic equations Grade Level/TEKS Reference: (10) Expressions, equations, and relationships. The student applies mathematical process standards to use equations and inequalities to solve problems. The student is expected to: (A) model and solve one-variable, one-step equations and inequalities that represent problems Length of time necessary for game or activity: Varies Number of Participants: 1 or 2 people at a time Source for Game or Activity: http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/mathgames/Numberballs_algebra_I/numberballsAlgebraI .htm Procedure: Students will be provided with two or more balls filled with algebraic equations. Students must solve for x and then click on the balls in order from the smallest value of x to the largest value of x. Students will be awarded points based on their correct answers and will be deducted points for incorrect answers. Adapted by: Myra Barrera (2014)
