C. Describe the main functions of each organ system
II. Activity 1: Use a human torso model and your textbook to identify the following organs.
Label the numbered organs on the torso models on the next page and place in your notebook.
A. Dorsal body cavity – brain & spinal cord
B. Ventral body cavity
1. Thoracic cavity – heart, lungs, bronchi, major blood vessels, diaphragm
2. Abdominal cavity – liver, gall bladder, stomach, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, ureters, small
intestine, large intestine, appendix
3. Pelvic cavity – urinary bladder, small intestine, large intestine, rectum (end of large
intestine), female reproductive organs (ovaries, Fallopian tubes, uterus, vagina)
