Special Materials and Equipment:Animal Anatomical Parts Worksheets
(pig, cow, horse, chicken, goat, and sheep). Live
animals that have previously been handled by
people. Overhead transparencies for external
anatomy identification (see California Curriculum
Guidelines).
Evaluation:
TOPIC PRESENTATION:
Quizzes and worksheets; use of terms in a
"Jeopardy" game including correct spelling and
parts identification; test using live animals
with an oral presentation given by each student.
EXTERNAL ANATOMY OF FARM ANIMALS

ACTIVITY:
Have students use worksheets to correctly spell the
name and label each external part. Students will
visually identify external parts on at least two of
the following live animals (one small and one large
animal): cow, horse, pig, chicken, goat, and sheep.

Attached are lists of external parts of domestic livestock.
Since diagrams cannot be transmitted, you must obtain pictures of
the animals yourself. All diagrams are available through the
California Curriculum Guidelines (including Intro to Ag and
Ag Production).

to meet the animal science standard 1.12.6. The others are provided for your
use as an enrichment tool.
