Course Description: Explains the theory and principle of the basic skills required for automotive sheet metal panel repair. General Course Objectives: Provides and explains the theory and principle of the basic skills required for automotive sheet metal panel repair. Introduction to the required skills of picking and filing and shrinking of damaged sheet metal. Instruction for the repair procedures of different types of collision and corrosion damaged sheet metal. 6. Specific Course Competencies Upon completion of ABRP 20G the student should be able to: UNIT 1. A. B. Describe the history, present environmental concerns and implications, and economic considerations of the auto body and related industries. Explain and demonstrate the safety requirements for the handling of auto body sheet metal repair materials and supplies. UNIT 2. A. B. C. Describe and demonstrate the elasticity of sheet metal; the expansion and contraction of damaged sheet metal panels and proper repair procedures. Explain and demonstrate the correct use of basic body and fender tools to facilitate sheet metal repair. Demonstrate and explain the proper procedures for roughing out damage, pick and filing, shrinking stretched sheet metal, and also safe work habits. UNIT 3. A. B. Describe and demonstrate the proper techniques for corrosion repair on mild steel panels and high strength steel panels. Explain and demonstrate the proper and safe procedures to handle and use to materials and supplies required for corrosion repair. 7.
