People credited with this unit standard are able to: monitor and observe prisoner activity and behaviour; conduct prison muster checks; and record, report, share, and document prisoner activity and behaviour. Explanatory notes 1 This unit standard is intended for workplace assessment. 2 Boundaries of unit standard This unit standard covers prisoner needs such as food, warmth, information, shelter, safety and security, medical, gender-specific, culture-specific, spiritual. This unit standard does not cover prisoner needs that fall outside of Policy and Procedures Manual requirements. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Monitor and observe prisoner activity and behaviour. Evidence requirements 1.1 Observe and monitor prisoners on an ongoing basis. 1.2 Identify and evaluate changes in behaviour and, where appropriate, refer to other parties. 1.3 Forward intelligence information to appropriate personnel. Outcome 2 Conduct prison muster checks. Range 2.2 Face-to-name muster confirms prisoner identity and presence. 2.3 Describe processes to be implemented where discrepancies in face-to-name muster are identified. Outcome 3 Record, report, share and document prisoner activity and behaviour. Evidence requirements 3.1 Record prisoner information completely, concisely, accurately, and legibly in the required format and scheduled timeframe. may include but is not limited to – diaries, log books, movement sheets, incident reports, misconduct reports, prisoner muster sheet, observation forms, offender management procedures. Range 3.2 Summarise and share information in a manner that reflects the urgency of the situation. Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess against standards by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
