Purpose
This unit standard is for people who currently are, or will be, designing
electronic telecommunications products or systems for internal and external
customers.
People assessed as competent in this unit standard are able to design
electronic telecommunications products or systems; test their viability; and
release these products to their customers.

Electronic products or systems: base stations, networks, testing systems, internal
and external plant, proprietary equipment, interconnections, circuits; those electronic
products and services relating to electronic communication systems including
transmission equipment, television studios, teletext, television, transmitters and
receivers, customer premise equipment, operating support systems, data, voice,
links, test equipment, cryptographic systems, power supply, supervisory control and
data acquisition, cabling, electronic warfare, jamming, switches, remote detonation
equipment.

specification and product and system development plan.

relevant interested parties promptly.

3.1
Testing sign offs are sighted and are accurate and complete.
3.2
Test reports for electronic telecommunications products or systems are
approved.
3.3
Bills of materials are approved and schematics and assembly drawings are “asbuilt”.
3.4
Acceptance report of electronic telecommunications products or systems is
signed by the customer, and payment for qualification testing is made or agreed
prior to release to customer.
3.5
Sample production run of electronic telecommunications product or system
meets pre-defined performance criteria.
3.6
Electronic telecommunications products or systems are released in compliance
with organisational policies and procedures.
3.7
Released electronic telecommunications products or systems are certified by
relevant approval bodies and comply with external regulations and legislation.

Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.

Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
