People assessed as competent in this unit standard are able to identify telecommunications customer and organisational requirements for electronic telecommunication products and services; and define, develop, and produce design specifications to satisfy those requirements. Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Define design specifications for new electronic telecommunications products and services. Performance criteria 1.1 Existing and future customer requirements for electronic telecommunications products and services are identified and recorded. 1.2 Feasibility of meeting identified customer requirements is identified and agreed. 1.3 Functional performance, and security requirements of new electronic telecommunications products and services are identified and defined. 1.4 Design specifications for electronic telecommunication products and services are defined and include environmental considerations. Range 1.5 Logistical requirements are identified, including timetables for deliverables, and are accurate and complete. Range 1.6 aesthetics, disposal, life time and life cycle of product or service, manufacturability, compatibility with existing product or service, upgrade potential. time allowed, availability of resources, costs involved. Defined design specifications comply with organisational policies and procedures and external standards and statutes and are cost, effective. Element 2 Develop design specifications for electronic telecommunications products and services. Performance criteria 2.1 Design specifications for electronic telecommunications products and services are developed and are concise, accurate, and relevant to agreed definition. 2.2 Developed design specification meets customer requirements, is in the agreed format, and is available by the agreed time. Range budget, time, resources, customer requirements. 2.4 Variations from agreed definition of design requirements for electronic telecommunication products and services are noted, and changes are agreed with customer prior to inclusion in final design. 2.5 Developed design specification is documented, filed in a secure environment, and is available to authorised personnel. Element 3 Produce design specifications for electronic telecommunications products and services. Performance criteria 3.1 Design specifications for electronic telecommunications products and services are produced and are legible, accurate, concise, complete, and understood by end-users. Range end-users – customers, manufacturing, management, technical experts. 3.2 Produced specification for electronic telecommunications products or services is in the agreed format and style and is completed by the agreed time. 3.3 Produced specification for electronic telecommunications products and services includes glossary of terms and definitions used. 3.4 Produced specification is documented and includes current version number and date produced. 3.5 Produced specification is filed and is available to authorised users. Range 3.6 References and acknowledgements are noted in produced design specification. Produced design specification for electronic telecommunications products or services is distributed to authorised personnel promptly on completion of design, and a register of specification holders is maintained up to date. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 4954 version 4 Page 4 of 4 Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
