This unit standard is intended for pharmacy technicians or
people working towards a pharmacy technician qualification.
People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate
knowledge of legal provisions for repacking pharmacy
products; prepare for repackaging as a pharmacy technician;
and carry out repacking as a pharmacy technician.

evidence of a minimum of 30 working days practice in a non-simulated pharmacy
workplace environment. This evidence is to be supplied in a pharmacist verifier’s

Evidence requirements
1.1
Licensing, non-licensing, supervision, and audit provisions for repacking are
described according to the GMP Code Part 3 and section 26 of the Medicines
Act 1981.
Outcome 2
Prepare for repackaging as a pharmacy technician.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Worksheet is prepared, calculations are performed, and labels are prepared
accurately in accordance with legislation, codes, standards, and standard
operating procedures.
2.2
Stock, equipment, containers, and work area are prepared in accordance with
legislation, codes, standards, and standard operating procedures.

Carry out repacking as a pharmacy technician.
Evidence requirements
3.1
Ingredients are measured and/or weighed accurately in accordance with
legislation, codes, standards, and standard operating procedures.
3.2
Products are prepared, packed, and labelled in accordance with legislation,
codes, standards, and standard operating procedures.
3.3
Equipment is used and maintained and/or disposed of, in accordance with
manufacturer’s instructions and standard operating procedures.
3.4
Work area is maintained in accordance with legislation, codes, standards, and
standard operating procedures.
3.5
Documents are completed and processed in accordance with legislation, codes,
standards, and standard operating procedures.
This unit standard is expiring. Assessment against the standard must take place by
the last date for assessment set out below.
