This unit standard is for people who design, install, or
commission irrigation systems.
People credited with this unit standard are able to: describe the
requirements for installation of irrigation systems and
components; and prepare a commissioning plan, design
system requirements, and record design and as-built
information, for the commissioning of irrigation systems and
components.

Each of the following systems are required to be assessed against – fixed, movable,
micro-irrigation.

Credit for this unit standard does not qualify the candidate to work in a drainlaying
situation that comes under the drainlayers licence requirements issued under the
Plumber, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Act 2006 and any subsequent amendments.

Evidence requirements
1.1
Requirements for the installation of the sprinklers and emitters are described in
accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and the Irrigation Design Code of
Practice.
1.2
Requirements for the installation of the pumping system are described in
accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and the Irrigation Design Code of
Practice.
1.3
Requirements for the installation of the filtration system are described in
accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and the Irrigation Design Code of
Practice.
1.4
Requirements for the installation of the pipe and control valve network are
described in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and the Irrigation
Design Code of Practice.
Outcome 2
Prepare a commissioning plan, design system requirements, and record design and asbuilt information, for the commissioning of irrigation systems and components.

A commissioning plan for an irrigation system is prepared in accordance with
the irrigation system design.
