This unit standard is intended for people who will design, plan
and install a hydrometric station.

It is recommended that candidates complete Unit 22800
Operate and maintain hydrometric stations, before completing
this unit standard.
Explanatory notes
1
Workplace health and safety Codes of Practice (COP) must be observed in all tasks
relevant to this unit standard.

The installation of a station must be planned and designed in accordance with
National Environmental Monitoring Standards (NEMS) and other relevant
organisational procedures. The complete list of NEMS can be found on the Land,
Air, Water Aotearoa (LAWA) website http://www.lawa.org.nz.

Must comply with relevant legislation and regulations.

The hydrometric station must include one of each: water level and rainfall, and must
be of a scale that requires design and planning. The degree of design and planning
required must, as a minimum, reflect the credit value of the unit standard.

Plan the installation of a hydrometric station in accordance with the design.
