Definitions
Class 4 – the category of gambling defined in the Gambling Act 2003.
Establishment requirements – any policy, procedure, or agreed requirement, either
written or oral, that is made known to the candidate prior to assessment against this
unit standard.
Gaming machine – as defined in the Gambling Act 2003.
Game Rules – those prescribed in the Gambling Act (Class 4) Game Rules 2006.
Player Instruction Notice – as defined in the Game Rules.

Candidates undertaking assessment against this unit standard are expected to
comply with the – Gambling Act 2003 and regulations made under the Act, Gambling
Act (Class 4) Game Rules 2006, Fair Trading Act 1986.

Elements and performance criteria
Element 1
Provide gaming machine information to customers in a Class 4 gambling environment.
Performance criteria
1.1
The cost of play in terms of credits, number of games, amount of bet, lines
played, gamble options, and maximum bet is explained to customers in
accordance with the gaming machine features and set-up.
1.2
The button panel or touch screen are explained to customers in terms of the
function of all buttons or features in accordance with the gaming machine
features and set up.
1.3
Methods of payment, including hand pays, are explained to customers in
accordance with machine features, establishment requirements, and Game
Rules.
1.4
Jackpot link features such as means of winner notification and, where
applicable, jackpot identification number are explained to customers, and Player
Instruction Notices are made available in accordance with the characteristics of
the system.
1.5
Gaming machine artwork pay tables and features are explained to two different
customers in accordance with establishment requirements.

Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
