Elements and performance criteria

Element 1

Manually process baggage from an arriving aircraft.

Performance criteria

1.1 Protective clothing and safety equipment are worn in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Range may include but is not limited to – high-visibility jacket, ear defenders.

1.2 Baggage is manually processed in accordance with special handling labels and enterprise procedures.

1.3 Baggage with a potential security risk is identified and handled in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Range may include but is not limited to – fragile articles, sharp objects, weapons, live animals.

1.4 Baggage with a potential safety risk is identified and handled in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Range may include but is not limited to

– personal safety, aircraft safety.

1.5 Baggage containing dangerous air cargo is identified and handled in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Range may include but is not limited to – corrosives, explosives, flammable liquids and solids, oxidising substances, radioactive materials.

1.6 Minimal damage to baggage and self during manual processing is ensured in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Please note

Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.

Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.

Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
