People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of paper grades for recycling and recovery. Primary market refers to those which recycle paper into paper products like cardboard, newspaper, tissues, boxboard, and printing and writing paper. Secondary market refers to those that recycle paper into other products such as cellulose insulation, egg cartons, roofing paper, animal bedding, and horticultural mulch. Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Demonstrate knowledge of paper grades for recycling and recovery. Performance criteria 1.1 Paper grades are identified and defined in accordance with internationally recognised specifications. Range 1.2 Paper grades are identified in terms of source and collection methods. Range 1.3 ISRI grades 1, 2, 4–13, 15–28, 30, 31, 33, 35–42, speciality; or ACOR equivalent. ISRI grades 1, 2, 4–13, 15–28, 30, 31, 33, 35–42, speciality; or ACOR equivalent. Market requirements for sorting and packaging paper grades are described in accordance with client’s specifications. Range markets – local, overseas, primary, secondary; evidence is required of at least five markets. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 24247 version 1 Page 3 of 3 Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP).
