Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Identify design positions relevant to production genre. Evidence requirements 1.1 Position is described in terms of contribution to the production. Range 1.2 positions relevant to the genre from the following - design personnel, sets personnel, wardrobe personnel, makeup personnel, hairdressers, scenic artists, graphic artists, props personnel, special effects personnel, continuity personnel, lighting personnel, post production colour grading and optical effects personnel. Job titles of personnel on set are identified in terms of contribution to the production. Range art director, standby personnel, lighting, special effects (sfx), continuity. Evidence requirements 2.1 Stages of design production are described in terms of the production genre. Range 2.2 stages relevant to the genre from - conceptualisation, feasibility, budget, storyboarding, design roughs, detailed drawings and models, specifications, scheduling, commissioning, buying, camera and continuity testing, art directing, standby, editing, colour grading, title and graphics. Needs of other production elements are described in relation to design. Range size, shape, colour, movement of actors, ease of installation. Outcome 3 Demonstrate a knowledge of materials, equipment, and problems associated with design. Evidence requirements 3.1 Types and functions of materials and equipment are identified in terms of their use in design. Range 3.2 examples include - lighting, construction, makeup and hair, wardrobe, special effects, set finishing, mock-ups for props and sets, graphics, optical and digital video effects. Design problems are described in terms of their effect on a production. Range continuity, breaking of illusion. Replacement information This unit standard replaces unit standard 1403.
