Worksite procedures refers to the documented and/or verbal procedures that include:
worksite rules, business procedures, equipment operating instructions, quality
management systems, and health and safety requirements.

All work practices must meet recognised codes of practice and documented worksite
safety procedures (where these exceed any applicable code) for personal, product,
and worksite safety, and must comply with current legislation.

Legislation relevant to this unit standard includes but is not limited to the Health and
Safety in Employment Act 1992.

Element 1
Identify the key code.
Performance criteria
1.1
Lock type and application are identified according to worksite procedures.
1.2
Proprietary locksmithing software and/or journals for choosing key codes are
selected according to worksite procedures.
1.3
The key code is selected using proprietary locksmithing software and/or
journals according to worksite procedures.
1.4
The key dimensions are identified according to worksite procedures.
Element 2
Identify key blanks and prepare for key cutting.
Performance criteria
2.1
The key blank is identified from the key code according to manufacturer’s
specifications.
2.2
Key blank is prepared for cutting according to worksite procedures.
Element 3
Select and set up the key cutting machine.
Performance criteria
3.1
The key cutting machine is selected to match the key blank according to
manufacturer’s specifications.
3.2
The key blank is set up according to manufacturer’s specifications.
3.3
Key cutting machine safety procedures are followed according to
manufacturer’s specifications.
3.4
Personal protective clothing and safety equipment are worn according to
worksite procedures.

Performance criteria
4.1
Key space and depth measurements are transposed to the key blank, using key
cutting machine, according to worksite procedures.
4.2
Key cutting machine is operated safely according to manufacturer’s
specifications.
4.3
Key space and depth measurements are transposed to the key blank, using
hand tools, according to worksite procedures.
4.4
Final key finishing is carried out according to worksite procedures.

Checking is carried out for accurate key generation and key code stamping
according to worksite procedures.
4.6
Key cutting area is cleaned and any waste material is removed according to
worksite procedures.
Please note
Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority, or an inter-institutional body
with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from
assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before
they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
