Switchboard and multicircuit devices refer to electrical and electronic devices which can accommodate single and multiphase control equipment such as timers, relays and contactors; protection equipment such as circuit breakers, fuses, Residual Current Devices and Earth Leakage Circuit Breakers; magnetic and thermal overload, main switches, isolating switches and changeover switches; and metering equipment such as ammeter, voltmeter, wattmeter, power factor and frequency meters. 2 All work practices must meet recognised codes of practice and documented worksite safety procedures (where these exceed code) for personal, product and worksite safety, and must meet the obligations required under current legislation. Range: devices to be terminated may include but are not limited to - button boxes, indicator boxes, master panels, fire control switches, telephones, communication devices, operating components, safety circuits. performance criteria 3.1 Lengths and wiring size and type are determined from appropriate drawings and confirmed, if necessary, by site inspection according to worksite procedure. Range: isolation procedures may include but are not limited to - tracing the supply circuit, impact on other equipment, location of final subcircuit of equipment. 3.3 Wiring is clearly identified by means of labeling or colour coding, and danger tags and out of service tags are attached according to worksite procedure. 3.4 Cable ends are prepared free from nicks, cuts, and damage to conductor material. 3.5 Terminations are carried out to specifications without damage to insulation or conductors and ensuring correct polarity. 3.6 Testing instruments are selected and equipment is tested for operation and safety according to worksite procedure. Range: testing to include - circuit continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, earth continuity, correct phase, connections, phase-to-phase isolation, phase-to-earth isolation; testing instruments may include but are not limited to – multimeter, megger, oscilloscope.
