People credited with this unit standard are able to: divide a
standard into patterns; add seam allowances; cut out
patterns; and test a set of upper patterns ready for grading
for any given style of footwear.

It is recommended that people already have Unit 3353, Cut

added to patterns according to company requirements and practice.

Patterns are cut out according to company requirements and practice.

Upper parts are cut from material specified for trial.
3.2
Trial is monitored to ensure that cutting, closing and lasting conforms to
company requirements and practice.
3.3
Checked upper fits last and test foot and/or feet.
3.4
Pattern adjustments are made and retested where required.

Produce and cut footwear upper patterns
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit
standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for providers wishing
to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for tutors
