the need for accurate product specifications; specify product
materials; and specify manufacturing requirements for

Prerequisite: Unit 3336, Demonstrate knowledge of footwear
terms, components and groups or demonstrate equivalent
knowledge and skills.
accreditation option:
Evaluation of documentation and visit by NZQA and industry.
moderation option:
A centrally established and directed national moderation
system has been set up by Competenz.
special notes:
It is recommended people already have existing knowledge
of: footwear manufacture and construction; leathers and
non-leather materials used in uppers; and material used in
heels, platforms, insoles, backers, shanks and soles. This
may be achieved by Unit 3348, Demonstrate knowledge of
footwear manufacture and construction; Unit 3340, Specify
non-leather materials used in footwear uppers; Unit 3349,
Specify types of leather used in footwear uppers; Unit 3351,
Specify materials used in footwear heels and platforms; Unit
3352, Specify materials used in footwear insoles, backers
and shanks; and Unit 3341, Specify materials used in
footwear soles.
