Evidence requirements
1.1 The essential features in a mortuary are identified and described in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
Range requirements include but are not limited to – territorial authority bylaws, Health Act, Building Act, Health and Safety in Employment
Act.
1.2 Principles of health and safety for incorporation into the design of a mortuary are identified and described in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
Range principles include but are not limited to those relating to
– access, ventilation, lighting, plumbing, lifting devices.
1.3 The equipment used for embalming in a mortuary is identified and described in accordance with legislative requirements and manufacturers’ recommendations.
Range equipment includes but is not limited to
– back-flow preventer, embalming instruments, embalming machines, aspiration equipment, safety equipment.
1.4 Safe methods of storing dangerous and hazardous chemicals in a mortuary are identified and described in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
1.5 The requirements for disposal facilities for dangerous and hazardous chemicals and waste are identified and described in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements.

Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess against standards by
NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
