NZQA Expiring unit standard 7207 version 7 Page 1 of 3 Title Prepare jacquard cards for carpet manufacture Level 2 Credits 12 Purpose This unit standard is for people working in the carpet manufacturing industry. People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate knowledge of jacquard card production, and the use of jacquard cards in carpet patterning; produce jacquard cards manually; produce jacquard cards using a computerised stamper; and assemble cards for use. Explanatory notes 1 Plant safety practices and procedures comply with Health and Safety in Employment (HSE) Act 1992, and workplace procedures. 2 Workplace productivity and quality requirements are met. 3 Competence will be demonstrated in both manual cutting and the use of a computerised cutting system, for both axminster and wilton designs. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Demonstrate knowledge of jacquard card production, and the use of jacquard cards in carpet patterning. Evidence requirements 1.1 Carpet pattern is described in terms of its translation to jacquard cards. Range cards, manual stamper, computerised stamper, lacing machine. Outcome 2 Produce jacquard cards manually. Evidence requirements 2.1 Pattern row is transferred to punching machine according to design. 2.2 Card is stamped according to workplace practice. Range card cut cleanly, identified, stacked in sequence for lacing. Outcome 3 Produce jacquard cards using a computerised stamper. Evidence requirements 3.1 Pattern information is selected on computer according to workplace practice. 3.2 Stamping machine is monitored during operation according to workplace practice. Range card supply maintained, cards feed to stamping head, cards sampled and checked with pattern. Outcome 4 Assemble cards for use. Evidence requirements 4.1 Cards are laced in sequence according to pattern. This unit standard is expiring. Assessment against the standard must take place by the last date for assessment set out below.
