People credited with this unit standard are able to: determine drawing requirements for products in the industrial textile fabrication industry; perform calculations to produce drawings; and produce product drawings under supervision. These requirements include but are not limited to – company specifications and procedures, work instructions, manufacturer specifications, product quality specifications, and legislative requirements. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Determine drawing requirements for products in the industrial textile fabrication industry. Evidence requirements 1.1 Drawing requirements are identified in accordance with customer and company requirements. 1.2 Drawing media to meet job specifications are selected and used in accordance with company requirements. 1.3 Drawing parameters to meet job specifications are identified in accordance with company requirements. Outcome 2 Perform calculations to produce drawings. Evidence requirements 2.1 Calculations are undertaken to obtain construction measurements and are as per job specifications. Range 2.2 areas, circumferences, arcs, chords, fits, tolerances, mathematical constants including pi, triangular calculations using Pythagoras’ theorem, triangular calculations using trigonometric functions. Dimensions to meet job specifications are selected in accordance with company requirements. Outcome 3 Produce product drawings under supervision. Evidence requirements 3.1 Tools and materials that enable the drawing to be carried out are selected and used in accordance with company requirements. 3.2 Products and assemblies are drawn to job specifications. 3.3 Drawing is dimensioned and labelled to job specifications. 3.4 Drawings are produced to documented job specifications appropriate to worksite. 3.5 Drawings meet product specifications and supervisor’s approval. 3.6 Safe working practices are carried out throughout the task in accordance with legislative requirements.
