This unit standard is for people who work in the industrial textile fabrication industry. People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate knowledge of producing freehand sketches in the industrial textile fabrication industry; demonstrate knowledge of geometric shapes and construction; and produce drawings to scale from freehand sketches.

2 Definition

Evidence requirements
1.1 Procedures for measuring the object prior to sketching are described in accordance with textbook instructions.

1.2 Base line and datum points are described in accordance with textbook instructions.
1.3 Dimensions and related notes are described in accordance with textbook instructions and company requirements.
1.4 Demonstrate drawing freehand sketches that communicate job requirements in accordance with company requirements.

Geometric construction is explained in accordance with textbook instructions.

Range includes but is not limited to
– circle, cube, triangle, square, rectangle, ellipse, hexagon, octagon, polygon, quadrilateral, pyramid, cylinder, sphere.
Outcome 3
Produce drawings to scale from freehand sketches.
Range includes but is not limited to – orthographic from pictorial, pictorial from orthographic, isometric.
Evidence requirements
3.1 Drawing tools and measuring equipment are described in accordance with textbook instruction.
Range includes but is not limited to
– rules, scale, squares, protractors, pencils, pens, drawing board, graph paper, calculator.
3.2 Demonstrate drawing to scale from freehand sketches that communicate job requirements in accordance with textbook instructions and company requirements.
Range compliance, orientation, proportion, dimensions, and related notes.
