Classification Diving > Diving - Recreational Available grade Achieved Entry information Critical health and safety prerequisites Unit 4384, Scuba dive and perform rescues in open water to a maximum depth of 18 metres or Unit 4383, Snorkel dive with safety, or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills. Explanatory notes 1 Industry technical and safety criteria are specified in the training manuals of the agencies approved by the Sport Fitness and Recreation Industry Training Organisation (Sfrito). 2 All workplace diving practice must comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995. All practice must also comply with Accident Rehabilitation and Compensation Insurance Act 1992 and the Occupational Safety and Health guidelines for Occupational Diving. 3 This unit standard is expiring All training providers assessing against any instruction diving unit standard must ensure that the training is conducted by a qualified instructor currently registered with one of the listed agencies: National Association of Underwater Instructors, Professional Association of Diving Instructors, Scuba Schools International, Confédération Mondiale des Activitiés Subaquatiques, International Diving Educators Association, or an equivalent, determined by Sfrito, that meets the requirements of the Recreational Scuba Training Council, the instructor must provide training in accordance with the standards and procedures of the respective training agency. Range camera, strobe, aiming lights, trays, arms, sealing rings, recharging systems, film, maintenance kit. 1.2 Underwater video dive site selected takes into account subject, access, environmental conditions, and hazards. 1.3 Potential underwater video hazards are described according to industry criteria. Range 1.4 Principles of video composition are described according to industry criteria. Range 1.5 definition, image completeness, foreground, background, subject direction and position, lighting, and contrast. Pre-dive preparation of equipment meets industry criteria. Range 1.6 nitrogen narcosis, environmental damage potential, equipment flooding and/or malfunction, mobility, dexterity, corrosion. tools, cleaning, lubrication, sealing rings, batteries, electronics, lens, strobe, camera. Post-dive care of equipment meets industry criteria. Range washing, lubricating, batteries, and electronics. Outcome 2 This unit standard is Evidence requirements expiring 2.1 Behaviour limits impact on the environment. Take video footage underwater. Range 2.2 diver propulsion, buoyancy control, body positioning. Behaviour limits the negative impact of environmental conditions on the video footage. Range suspended particles, light loss, colour absorption. 2.3 Video footage using strobe lighting minimises backscatter. 2.4 Completed video footage is exposed and focused to the video operator’s and instructor’s satisfaction.
