Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to: select and
use hand operated or hand held power tools; undertake minor
routine maintenance according to organisational requirements,
and demonstrate knowledge of minor routine maintenance
practices.

1
Work must be carried out in accordance with organisational requirements, licensing
requirements, legislative requirements, and industrial awards and agreements.

Workplace information may include – Standard Operating Procedures, specifications
routine maintenance schedules.

Minor routine maintenance covering servicing and minor adjustments/repairs to plant
and equipment will be conducted within workplace agreements.

Tools and equipment used for servicing may include – small hand tools, hand held
power tools, grease guns.

which are documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace.
These requirements include but are not limited to – site specific requirements,
company quality management requirements.

Hand and power tools are selected in accordance with task requirements.

Tools are checked before use and unsafe and/or faulty items are reported in
accordance with organisational requirements.

Evidence requirements
2.1
Routine maintenance on plant and equipment is carried out in association with
fellow workers in accordance with workplace agreement and organisational
requirements.

Grease and oil is applied as directed in accordance with manufacturer’s
specifications and maintenance schedule.
2.3
Faulty application of lubricants is identified and reported in accordance with
organisational requirements.
2.4
OSH non-compliance is identified, rectified and/or reported in accordance with
organisational requirements.
