Performance criteria 1.1 The construction, operation, and capability of the components on a conductor assembly line are described, using enterprise equipment. Range 1.2 The construction and operation of types of conductor assembly lines are described. Range 1.3 construction, operation, and capability – evidence is required for fundamental characteristics only; components may include – controls, safety features, pay-off, diestation, capstan, main drive, gearbox, carriage(s), bow, braking system, loading system, pintle locking system, wire guides, wire break system, carriage gears, take up. construction and operation – evidence is required for fundamental characteristics only; types of conductor assembly lines – rigid, planetary, bunching, SZ. The construction and operation of the ancillary equipment on a conductor assembly line are described, using enterprise equipment. Range construction and operation – evidence is required for fundamental characteristics only; ancillary equipment may include – welder, packaging, measurement system. Element 2 Set up and run a conductor assembly line. Range evidence is required for two conductor products, each product of different configuration and size and material. Performance criteria 2.1 Line set up information is interpreted in accordance with enterprise requirements. 2.2 Set up components are selected and verified against job specification in accordance with enterprise procedure. Range 2.3 set up components may include – sector rollers, dies, gears, preforming heads, grease pots. Set up components are changed in accordance with enterprise procedure. Element 3 Identify and correct routine conductor assembly faults. Range routine conductor assembly faults include – non-conforming: diameter, ovality, depth, width, surface appearance, weight, electrical resistance; wirebreaks. Performance criteria 3.1 Routine conductor assembly faults are identified and corrected in accordance with enterprise procedure. 3.2 Conductor assembly production faults are reported in accordance with enterprise procedure. Please note Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
