Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used throughout operations in
accordance with company procedures and manufacturer’s instructions.

Definition
Company procedures refer to all documented policies and procedures of the
candidate’s employer at the time of training including, but not limited to, those relating
to health, safety, environment, quality, and operations.

Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Inspect galvanized items and plan fettling for hot dip galvanizing.
Range
evidence is required for three types of component, one of which has been
double-end dipped.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Fettling requirements are determined in accordance with company procedures.
1.2
Hot dip galvanized components are inspected for defects of coating in
accordance with company procedures.
defects – lack of adherence, roughness.

Inspection identifies defects outside the control of the galvanizer.
defects – design, fabrication, steel composition.

Non-compliant components are repaired or re-dipped in accordance with
company procedures.
