They may refer to manuals, codes of practice, or policy statements. Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Install mechanical flow correctors in a gas distribution network. Performance criteria 1.1 Equipment and fittings for the installation of mechanical flow correctors are obtained in accordance with site and job specific application. Range valves, fittings, temperature and pressure connections, scada. 1.2 Equipment and fittings are checked as fit for purpose and deviations are reported and replaced in accordance with company procedures. 1.3 Tools and equipment are used in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. 1.4 Mechanical flow corrector suitable for the application is selected in accordance with company procedures. Range pressure, temperature, Z factor, input, output. 1.5 Components and component parts of mechanical flow correctors are cleaned and protected in accordance with company procedures. 1.6 Work area is maintained in accordance with company housekeeping procedures. 1.7 Health and safety requirements and site procedures are complied with during the installation. 1.8 Mechanical flow correctors are installed in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Element 2 Commission mechanical flow correctors in a gas distribution network. Performance criteria 2.1 Adjustments are made to installed mechanical flow correctors in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and site specific installation requirements or company procedures. Range 2.3 observation (alarm), test equipment, billing system. Tests are carried out in accordance with site requirements and manufacturer’s instructions. Range vibration analysis equipment, leak detection, meters, process load simulators, alignment equipment. 2.4 The work area is reinstated upon completion of the work in accordance with site requirements and company procedures. 2.5 Documentation and records are completed in accordance with company procedures. Element 3 Maintain mechanical flow correctors in a gas distribution network. Performance criteria 3.1 Mechanical flow correctors are inspected in accordance with company procedures. 3.2 Deviations from normal are identified and reported, and their cause is diagnosed in accordance with company procedures. 3.3 Test equipment for diagnosing faults is used in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. 3.4 Routine maintenance on mechanical flow correction equipment is carried out in accordance with company procedures. 3.5 Replacement components or component parts are obtained in accordance with company procedures and manufacturer’s instructions. 3.6 Replacement components or component parts of mechanical flow correctors are installed and checked in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. 3.7 Health and safety requirements, necessary for the completion of the maintenance, are obtained before the activity commences in accordance with company procedures. Performance criteria 4.1 Equipment and materials left temporarily on site are stored safely and securely, or arrangements are made for their collection in accordance with company procedures. 4.2 Tools, equipment, and materials are removed from site in accordance with job requirements and company procedures. 4.3 Worksite is reinstated and made safe in accordance with company procedures. Element 5 Complete reporting and documentation. Performance criteria 5.1 Information is communicated to other parties, both internal and external, in accordance with company requirements. Range 5.2 may include but is not limited to – readings, downloaded data, special conditions, completion notice, additional work. Records and documents are completed and processed in accordance with company procedures. Please note Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
