They may refer to manuals, codes of practice, or policy statements; Connection refers to the supply of gas to a property; Customer refers to but is not limited to – property owner, developer, channel partner, service provider; GMS refers to gas measurement system; LPG refers to liquefied petroleum gas. Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Demonstrate knowledge of applications for gas connections. Performance criteria 1.1 Procedures for processing gas connection applications are described in terms of company procedures. Range 1.2 The connection types are identified for given situations. Range 1.3 evidence is required of converting between kW/hr, MJ/hr, GJ/hr, and m3/hr; evidence required includes situations where there is more than one appliance. The legislative requirements are identified in terms of the compliance requirements for the connection. Range 1.5 connection type – natural gas, LPG; situations include but are not limited to – pressure availability, pressure requirements. Preparation for connection of appliances to gas supply is described in terms of the connection type. Range 1.4 connections – natural gas, LPG; procedures include but are not limited to – sequence, timeframe, constraints, documentation, information required. includes but is not limited to – GMS location, cylinder location. The application process is described in terms of company procedures. Performance criteria 2.1 Prices for connections are identified from company pricelists. 2.2 The process of preparing and presenting quotations for connecting gas is described in terms of company procedures. Element 3 Demonstrate knowledge of documentation for processing gas connections. Performance criteria 3.1 The documentation related to the connection application process is described in terms of company procedures. Range network operator, gas retailer, GMS owner; may include but is not limited to – appliance or equipment type, volume of annual gas use, capacity requirements, appliance or equipment rating, GMS position, cylinder location, topography, length of service. 3.2 Communication requirements for connections are described in terms of interaction with suppliers and customers. 3.3 Invoicing and documentation processes for connections are described in terms of company procedures. Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
