Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate
knowledge and use of aircraft safety and emergency equipment
in emergency situations.

Explanatory notes
1
Definitions
Enterprise procedures refer to the expected performance required by the enterprise
in which credit for this unit standard is being sought. Such performance may be
specified in enterprise procedures as indicated in manuals, guidelines, checklists,
information bulletins, and Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand (CAA)
documentation.
Safety and emergency equipment refers to any piece of equipment carried on an
aircraft that assists flight attendants to carry out the safety function of their role.

Evidence for this unit standard may be obtained in an aircraft and/or a fully
operational cabin trainer suitable for all aspects of flight attendant training.
Outcomes and evidence requirements

Demonstrate knowledge of aircraft safety and emergency equipment.

Evidence requirements
2.1
Aircraft safety and emergency equipment is selected for the emergency
situations.
2.2
Equipment use is demonstrated in accordance with enterprise procedures and
manufacturer’s instructions.
2.3
Reporting is completed for the given situations that required the use of
emergency equipment in accordance with enterprise procedures.
