2 Award of credit for this unit standard requires competence to be demonstrated across the following range of lockstitch sewing machines: plain, needle feed, compound feed, zig zag.

1.1 Type of machine is selected for the work in hand according to the machine manufacturer’s specifications and company policy.

Machine operation is described according to the machine manufacturer’s specifications and company policy.
1.3 Machine threading up procedure is demonstrated according to machine manufacturer’s specifications.
1.4 Machine adjustment points are indicated and their function described according to the machine manufacturer’s specifications.
Range foot heights, stitch length, timing.
1.5 Machine lubrication and cleaning procedures are demonstrated according to machine manufacturer.
