Complex refers to advanced air traffic skills requiring more than two or three tasks to be performed at any one time and with variable environment factors impacting upon the traffic situation. Abnormal refers to situations requiring the application of non-routine ATS procedures. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Demonstrate knowledge of the separations and procedures applicable to the provision of non-radar area control for ATS under simulated conditions. Evidence requirements 1.1 Non-radar area control procedures are described in accordance with standard industry texts. 1.2 Non-radar area control separations are described in accordance with standard industry texts. 1.3 The location-specific environment is described in accordance with standard industry texts. Evidence requirements 2.1 Apply area control procedures in accordance with standard industry texts. 2.2 The operation of flight progress systems is managed in accordance with standard industry texts. Range strip board, flight data processing system (FDPS). 2.3 The interpretation of available flight and meteorology information is disseminated in accordance with standard industry texts. 2.4 The operation of ATS equipment is managed in accordance with standard industry texts. 2.5 Situational awareness as a basis for informed decision-making is demonstrated in accordance with standard industry texts. Range aircraft performance, aircraft limitations, aircraft equipment. 2.6 Traffic situations are managed and prioritised in accordance with standard industry texts. 2.7 Traffic positions are projected and visualised based on tactics, and planning for the onward movement of air traffic, the anticipation of aircraft responses is demonstrated in accordance with standard industry texts. 2.8 Traffic situations are critically analysed for potential conflict, and timely instructions and/or information are given to ensure a safe, orderly and expeditious traffic flow in accordance with standard industry texts. 2.9 Traffic coordination and transfer of responsibility are demonstrated in accordance with standard industry texts. 2.10 Distribution of flight instructions/information, based on principal terminology and phraseology, is demonstrated in accordance with standard industry texts. 2.11 Situations with potential to become unsafe are recognised and resolutions are applied in accordance with standard industry texts.
