This qualification is intended for people working in industrial textile manufacturing who wish to specialise in the dyeing and finishing of industrial textiles.

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the textile manufacturing sector with people who have the skills and knowledge to work in all aspects of the dyeing and wet finishing process operations for manufactured textiles.

Graduates will operate at a leadership level with limited supervision.

Graduates will be able to:

Apply workplace health and safety requirements to the dyeing and wet-finishing process.

Use a range of dyeing and wet-finishing processes, equipment and materials to dye and finish textiles.

Set up and control the dyeing and wet-finishing production process to meet safety and quality requirements.

Further skills and knowledge in dyeing and finishing can be gained through completing the New Zealand Diploma in Dyeing and Finishing (Level 5) [Ref: 2979].

Graduates of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge to work as a team leader in the dyeing and finishing manufacturing process.

Co-ordination and logistic aspects

Basic leadership

Transition information

Replacement information This qualification replaced the National Certificate in Textile Dyeing and

Finishing (Dyeing Technology) (Level 4) with strands in Shade

Assessment and Measurement, and Chemical Preparation [Ref: 0181];

National Certificate in Textile Dyeing and Finishing (Operations) (Level 2) with strands in Dyeing, Finishing, and Printing [Ref: 0186]; and National

Certificate in Textile Dyeing and Finishing (Advanced Operations) (Level 3)

[Ref: 0288].

The last date for entry into the replaced qualifications is 31 December 2016. The last date for assessment against the replaced qualifications is 31 December 2019.

It is anticipated that no existing candidates will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements.

However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to Competenz at the address below. Appeals will be considered on a case by case basis.
