Definitions
Workplace practice refers to the documented procedures specific to a workplace
which set out the standard and required practices of that workplace.
Territorial Authority requirements refer to the slurry control requirements of the
Territorial Authority for the candidate’s region.

Credit for this unit standard indicates compliance with industry practice. Industry
practice, for the purpose of this unit standard, refers to the ability to demonstrate
knowledge and skills that reflect the productivity, uniformity, finish quality and
material economies currently accepted within industry.

Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and Health and Safety in Employment
Regulations 1995;

Territorial Authority requirements for control of concrete slurry are described.

Methods for preventing slurry runoff are described in accordance with
workplace practice.

Methods for protecting finished surfaces from slurry damage are described in
accordance with workplace practice.

Evidence requirements
2.1
Slurry runoff prevention is carried out in accordance with Territorial Authority
requirements and workplace practice.

Finished surface protection is carried out in accordance with job requirements
and workplace practice.
Range
use of slurry collection devices, use of surface covers, minimising

Outcome 3
Complete work operations.
Evidence requirements
3.1
All operations are safely completed; workplace and equipment are cleaned in
accordance with workplace practice and environmental safety requirements,
and routine maintenance is carried out in accordance with workplace practice.

Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess against standards by
NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and
which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that
applies to those standards.

standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
