A business operation may form part of an organisation’s activities or it may constitute
a complete organisation.

This unit standard will be assessed on the basis of evidence of demonstrated
performance in the workplace, or in simulated situations that demand performance
equivalent to that required in work.

Evidence requirements
1.1
Methods of seeking tenders for a contract are described in terms of suitability
for different requirements.
Range
methods include – open, advertising at large, registration of
tenderers and short-listing, invited tenderers.
1.2
Tender documents are evaluated for compliance with organisational policy and
legal requirements.
1.3
Tender documents are evaluated for clarity and accuracy in the specification of
goods or service sought, conditions of contract, and procedures for submission.
1.4
The description of procedures for receiving, recording, opening, and evaluating
tenders is in accordance with tender document.
1.5
The description of procedures for handling calculation errors, tags, incomplete
documentation, alternative tenders, and late tenders is in accordance with tender
document.
1.6
Tender evaluation methods are identified in terms of size, nature, and expected
value of contracts.
1.7
The description of procedures for awarding tenders includes documentation of
evaluation and advising results of the tender process to all tenderers.
Outcome 2
Demonstrate knowledge of contract negotiation and contract development in a business
operation.
Range
contract may be for supply or maintenance of goods, services, materials, plant or
equipment resources.
Evidence requirements
2.1
The process for conducting negotiations finalising the agreement in a manner that
promotes goodwill and satisfies legal and commercial requirements is described.
2.2
A contract is developed, in accordance with legal and organisational
requirements.
Range
must include – terms of performance, actions for any breach of
performance, release from engagement, provision for contingencies
and review;
terms of performance must include – price, standards, time,
quantity, quality, control, consultation, disputes procedure,
and may include but are not limited to – finance terms, interest rates,
warranty terms, service support, spares, guarantees.

The contract is fully and accurately documented in a format acceptable to both
parties, and approved according to organisational requirements.
Outcome 3
Demonstrate knowledge of managing a contract in a business operation.
Evidence requirements
3.1
Assignment of management responsibilities is described in terms of organisational
requirements.
3.2
Control and information systems to monitor progress are described in terms of
conformity with the contract.
3.3
The description of communications procedures includes scheduled meetings with
the contractor.
3.4
The description of dispute procedures is in accordance with the contract.

the last date for assessment set out below.

which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that
