It covers the role and responsibilities of the tree observer. It is important that anyone working in a felling operation understands the role of the tree observer. The tree observer takes direction from the tree faller. People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of the role of the observer in a tree felling operation, and demonstrate knowledge of communication between the observer and tree feller. Range consultation, warnings, hazards, assistance. Outcome 2 Demonstrate knowledge of communication between the observer and tree faller. Evidence requirements 2.1 The limitations on communication within a felling operation are described. Range 2.2 noise, visibility, proximity to hazards, safe position. Effective means of communication within a felling operation are described. Range radio, pre-arranged signals, tactile communication. This unit standard is expiring.
