People assessed as competent in this unit standard are able to identify the physical location of an unacceptable variation and mobilise resources to restore. Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Monitor systems to locate cause of unacceptable variations in specified technical performance. Performance criteria 1.1 The equipment used to monitor the performance of telecommunications networks, systems, and equipment is accurate, in good working order, and available for immediate use by authorised personnel. Range 1.2 Telecommunications networks, systems, and equipment are monitored at regular intervals in accordance with operational guidelines or customer requirements. Range 1.3 locations – physical, internal, external. Customers and system control are advised, in a format and time-frame which meets end-user needs, of the implications of work on system performance. Range 1.5 manuals, equipment specifications, supplier specifications, organisational requirements, statutory requirements, contractual obligations. The locations of unacceptable variations in specified technical performance are identified and are accurate and complete. Range 1.4 computers, computer based application software, supervisory control and data acquisition, customised monitoring equipment, network control systems. customers – internal, external. Documentation for the location of unacceptable variances in specified technical performance is correct, concise, accurate, and available for reference by authorised personnel. Performance criteria 2.1 Repair procedures are current and available for immediate reference by authorised personnel. Range 2.2 Initiation of repair procedures adheres to operational regulations and guidelines. Range 2.3 in-house, customer site. The correct personnel for undertaking repair procedures are advised, in a format and in a timeframe that meets the expectations of the end-user and the customer, of repair requirements. Range 2.4 repair procedures – specifications, manuals: equipment, health and safety, procedural, supplier, in-house; authorised personnel – in-house, customers, contractors. correct personnel – suppliers, contractors, repairers, in-house maintenance providers; format – written, verbal, letter, memo, telephone, fax, electronic mail. Receipted variance information is available to personnel undertaking the repair procedures, prior to the commencement of repair, and is current and complete. Range computer-based, handwritten, technical, operational, qualitative, quantitative. 2.5 Repair personnel and customers are kept informed of work in progress and information affecting completion of repair. 2.6 Internal management and accounting systems are initiated following repair despatch. Range 2.7 invoicing, stores, reporting, time and or work sheets. Repair procedure documentation is complete, filed in the correct place, or referred to the correct person by the agreed time. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 4941 version 4 Page 4 of 4 Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP).
