People credited with this unit standard are, in a petrochemical workplace, able to: describe and carry out punch listing for new equipment in a system; commission a system with new equipment; and optimise new equipment in a system. Site requirements mean the site specific documented methods for performing work activities and include health, safety, environmental, and quality management requirements. They may refer to manuals, codes of practice, or policy statements. Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Describe and carry out punch listing for new equipment in a system in a petrochemical workplace. Performance criteria 1.1 The purpose and principles of punch listing are explained in accordance with site requirements. 1.2 The equipment to be punch listed is identified using the plant identification and numbering system. 1.3 Drawings are located against which the equipment is to be punch listed. 1.4 New equipment to be commissioned is punch listed to identify any defects or omissions. 1.5 Any equipment defects or omissions are recorded and reported in accordance with site requirements. Element 2 Commission a system with new equipment in a petrochemical workplace. Performance criteria 2.1 Documentation required for commissioning a system is located. Range vendor manuals, training manuals, procedures, drawings, certification. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 9617 version 4 Page 3 of 3 2.2 Emergency procedures and contingency plans associated with the commissioning are explained. Range emergency shutdown, trip tests, emergency response equipment, personnel responsibilities, audits. 2.3 The equipment status is identified as ready for commissioning in accordance with site requirements. 2.4 The commissioning of equipment and system meets plant, manufacturer's, and designer’s requirements. 2.5 Equipment operation is monitored during commissioning to identify problems. 2.6 Any problems are logged and reported to identify required remedial actions in accordance with site requirements. Element 3 Optimise new equipment in a system in a petrochemical workplace. Performance criteria 3.1 Plant operating parameters are identified to determine the baseline. 3.2 Plant optimisation achieves design specifications. 3.3 Trial actions are trended and recorded to provide evidence of results in accordance with site requirements. Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
