Purpose This unit standard is for people who work, or intend to work, in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning sector of the engineering industry. People credited with this unit standard are able to: check the compliance of an industrial liquids system with work site documents and ensure all services are connected; flush, purge and fill the system and check the operation of the plant and controls; check that the pipe work systems have been completed; set the system to operation; and record and report on pre-commissioning.

Recommended skills and knowledge

Open, however, it is recommended that people undertaking this unit standard are already credited with Unit 3205, Integrate industrial liquids systems components, or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills.

Explanatory notes

1 Work site documents include contracts, drawings and any installation documents for the installed industrial liquids system.

2 All work site practices must meet recognised codes of practice and documented safety procedures and safety plans (where these exceed code) for personal and work site safety, and obligations required under current legislation.

3 Industrial liquids include acids, alkalis, detergents, printing inks and food products.

4 A general knowledge of industrial liquids systems would be advantageous to people undertaking this standard.

System compliance with pre-commissioning requirements is recorded in accordance with system documents.

3.2 Pre-commissioning report is completed and actioned in accordance with system documents and company policies and procedures.
