Explanatory notes Definition Enterprise means an organisation where training and/or assessment is taking place, and/or where the trainee is employed. Enterprise procedures refer to the documented procedures used by the organisation carrying out the work and applicable to the tasks being carried out. They may include but are not limited to – standard operating procedures, site safety procedures, equipment operating procedures, codes of practice, quality assurance procedures, housekeeping standards, charging of time and materials, management of drawings and documentation, procedures to comply with legislative and local body requirements. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Monitor and control raw material weighing and delivery equipment for a glass furnace. Range raw material weighing and delivery equipment – major and minor weigh hoppers, delivery conveyors, mixers, vibrating feeders, elevator, batch hoppers. Evidence requirements 1.1 Raw material weighing and delivery equipment is identified and its operation described in accordance with enterprise procedures and industry practice. Range 1.3 23068 version 2 Page 2 of 3 evidence may be simulated if required. Raw material weighing and delivery equipment is monitored and controlled in accordance with enterprise procedures. Outcome 2 Operate a glass furnace. Evidence requirements 2.1 Furnace warm-up and cool-down processes are described. 2.2 The hazards of operating a glass furnace are identified and precautions taken in accordance with enterprise procedures. Range 2.3 hazards – burns, heat exhaustion, electrocution, working at heights, working in isolation. Enterprise procedures for responding to emergency situations are described. Range emergency situations include – loss of – gas, air, electricity, cooling wind, cooling water, pressure; glass leak. 2.4 The melting process is managed and monitored, and job data is recorded in accordance with enterprise procedures. 2.5 Colour change procedures are followed in accordance with enterprise procedures. 2.6 Environmental monitoring of the furnace is performed, data is recorded, and any alarms responded to in accordance with enterprise procedures.
