Purpose
This unit standard is for people who are currently working, or who intend to
work, in jobs involving the picking and assembling of goods in a food and
related products warehouse for dispatch to customers.
People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate knowledge of
product labelling and storage systems; pick and stack goods in a food and
related products warehouse; and assemble goods for dispatch to customers.

Company policies and procedures are those stated policies and/or procedures made
known to the candidate as being the required performance standard – eg location for
filing documentation.
Elements and performance criteria
Element 1
Demonstrate knowledge of product labelling and storage systems.
Performance criteria
1.1
The product labelling system is described in terms of the product information
and dating system.
1.2
The product storage system is described in terms of stock rotation, the
segregation of seconds and expired stock, and the location and retrieval of
stock.
1.3
The product storage system is described in terms of the need to maintain
product quality, and the requirements of the company quality assurance policies
and procedures.
Element 2
Pick and stack goods in a food and related products warehouse.
Performance criteria
2.1
Goods are picked in accordance with the picklist.
2.2
Goods are picked and stacked in accordance with the need to maintain the
quality of the goods, and with the drop sequence.
2.3
Goods are picked and stacked, and out of stock shortfalls handled, in
accordance with the company operating procedures.
2.4
Goods are picked and stacked in accordance with the company safety policies
and procedures.
2.5
Goods are picked and stacked in accordance with the company order and
delivery throughput requirements.
Element 3
Assemble goods for dispatch to customers.
Performance criteria
3.1
Picked goods are assembled and stacked in accordance with dispatch
instructions.

3.2
Picked goods are wrapped and labelled in accordance with the company
operating procedures.
3.3
Picked goods are assembled, and wrapped in accordance with the company
safety policies and procedures.
3.4
Picked goods are assembled, and wrapped in accordance with the company
order and delivery throughput requirements.
Please note
Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority, or an inter-institutional body
with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from
assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before
they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
