Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Demonstrate knowledge of tiles used for floor and wall tiling. Evidence requirements 1.1 Types of tile are identified and described in terms of characteristics and end use. Range 1.2 types – porcelain, ceramic, stone, terracotta, glass, composite; characteristics – temperature variation resistance, moisture resistance, chemical resistance. Manufacture of tiles is described in terms of effects on performance and end use. Range types – porcelain, ceramic, stone, terracotta, glass, composite. Range description for four different sizes and dimensions of tile. 1.4 Colour and pattern in tiles are described in terms of their effect on the process of laying and material quantities required. 1.5 Selection and grading of tiles, and checking of batches are described in terms of quality requirements for end product. 1.6 Storage requirements for tiles are described in terms of maintaining quality.
