New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 39 version 5 Page 2 of 3 Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Run out, join and set up netting. Performance criteria 1.1 Netting is rolled out along entire fence line without damage in a controlled manner. 1.2 Netting ends are joined with no protrusions. 1.3 Netting is prepared with wider wire spacings at the top of the fence, allowing unrestricted straining and adjustment before termination. 1.4 Termination knots are positioned according to assembly type to avoid ‘knock up’ or ‘knock slack’. Element 2 Tension and terminate netting. Performance criteria 2.1 Netting clamps are placed on netting against stay wire, and secured to prevent slip or wire damage. 2.2 The pre-termination line check is completed prior to final tensioning. 2.3 Netting is tensioned according to manufacturer’s instructions and with no vertical distortion. 2.4 Line wires are terminated and tension is retained when netting clamps are removed. Element 3 Staple netting. Performance criteria 3.1 The netting height is positioned according to fence design. 3.2 Staples are skewed with minimum wire clearance, and with true staple loading maintained to all primary and intermediate posts. 3.3 Ground clearance is maintained in a uniform manner. 3.4 Wire is stapled to post without damage in accordance with post loading. Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
