People credited with this unit standard are able to: review the findings of a

requirements for peer review.

Definitions
Drinking-water supply – the supply catchment, treatment plant, and distribution. The
drinking-water supplier has responsibility for managing the public health risks of the
drinking-water supply.

documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace. These
requirements include but are not limited to – site specific requirements,
manufacturers’ specifications, product quality specifications, and legislative or
regulatory requirements.

Element 1
Review the findings of a drinking-water supply inspection, identify non-compliance and
non-conformance, and clarify with drinking-water supplier.
Performance criteria
1.1
Findings of the inspection are checked, and any areas of non-compliance and
non-conformance are identified, in accordance with the National Drinking-Water
Technical Manual.
Element 2
Record and collate observations and conclusions.
Performance criteria
2.1
Inspection findings are recorded in accordance with the National Drinking-Water
Technical Manual.

corrective or preventive action agreed, matters for follow up,

Provisional assessment of compliance with drinking-water supplier’s Public
Health Risk Management Plan (PHRMP) and the Drinking-Water Standards for
New Zealand is carried out in accordance with the National Drinking-Water
Technical Manual.

Element 3
Produce a provisional report for the water supplier, and describe appeal procedures and

Performance criteria
3.1
A provisional report is compiled, structured, produced, formatted, and
transmitted in accordance with the National Drinking-Water Technical Manual.
Range

provisional assessment of compliance.
3.2
Report includes reasons for non-compliance in accordance with the National
Drinking-Water Technical Manual.
3.3
Report includes summary of compliance agreement in accordance with the
National Drinking-Water Technical Manual.
3.4
Appeal procedures in the event of failure to reach agreement are described in
accordance with Ministry of Health requirements.
3.5
Peer review is described in terms of the procedures and situations where it may
be required in accordance with organisational procedures.
Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
