Drinking-water supply – the supply catchment, treatment plant, and distribution. The
drinking-water supplier has responsibility for managing the public health risks of the
drinking-water supply.

Element 1
Describe the applications of the WINZ database.
Performance criteria
1.1
The WINZ database workbenches are described in terms of their uses.
1.2
The WINZ database is described in terms of the organisations who use it, and
the purpose for which it is used.
Range
includes but is not limited to – drinking-water suppliers, drinkingwater assessors, laboratories, Institute of Environmental and
Scientific Research (ESR), Ministry of Health.
Element 2
Demonstrate the use of WINZ database workbenches.
Performance criteria
2.1
A sampling schedule is created and adjusted in accordance with Ministry of
Health standards.
2.2
Drinking-Water compliance assessment is carried out in accordance with
Ministry of Health standards.
2.3
A monitoring or surveillance sample is entered in accordance with Ministry of
Health standards.
2.4
A data file is transferred in accordance with database processes.
2.5
Trial grading is undertaken in accordance with Ministry of Health standards.
Element 3
Produce WINZ reports.
Performance criteria
3.1
Reports are produced in accordance with report template requirements.

Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
