Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to: explain the
employment contract process as it relates to the New Zealand
dairy industry; explain the disciplinary process as it relates to
the New Zealand dairy industry; explain the termination of
employment process as it relates to the New Zealand dairy
industry; explain the personal grievance process as it relates to
the New Zealand dairy industry; and explain employee
representation and bargaining rights in the New Zealand dairy
industry.

Explanatory notes
1
Organisational requirements refers to instructions to staff on policy and procedures
which are documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace.
These requirements include but are not limited to – company employment contracts,
company human resource policy and procedures, and legislative requirements.

Legislative requirements in this unit standard include but are not limited to
compliance with the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, Employment
Relations Act 2000, Human Rights Act 1993, and subsequent amendments.

Steps in the formal discipline interview are described in accordance with
organisational requirements.

Explain the termination of employment process as it relates to the New Zealand dairy
industry.
Evidence requirements
3.1
Company policies and procedures in relation to termination of employment are
explained in accordance with organisational requirements.

The basis for fairness and ‘good cause’ are explained in relation to discipline
and termination in accordance with organisational requirements.
