NZQA registered unit standard 27346 version 1 Page 1 of 3 Title Prepare schedules of quantities and cost jobs for plumbing, gas or drainage systems Level 5 Credits Purpose 10 This unit standard covers the preparation of schedules of quantities for plumbing, gasfitting or drainlaying work and costing plumbing, gasfitting or drainlaying jobs. It is intended for use in the training of certifying plumbers, gasfitters or drainlayers. People credited with this unit standard are able to: prepare a schedule of quantities from given job documentation; cost job for a plumbing, gas or drainage system; manage the effect of variations to job on costing. Classification Plumbing, Gasfitting and Drainlaying > Core Plumbing, Gasfitting, and Drainlaying Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 This standard could be assessed against in conjunction with Unit 27338, Design drainage systems discharging to sewers, roads or water courses or Unit 27339, Design on-site waste water treatment and surface water disposal systems, or through a given scenario. 2 Definition Job documentation, for the purposes of this unit standard, refers to drawings and job specifications. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Prepare a schedule of quantities from given job documentation. Evidence requirements 1.1 Measurements are taken from the job documentation and recorded accurately. Range 1.2 pipe lengths, fittings, any fixtures, any appliances, any equipment, any construction materials, any special structures. Schedule is complete and accurate. Range estimate, quote, charge-up. Evidence requirements 2.1 Schedule of current unit rates is determined. 2.2 Any ancillary costs are identified. Range 2.3 includes but is not limited to consent fees, special insurance, inspection fees. Unit rates are applied to the schedule of quantities. Range 2.4 labour rates, pipe lengths, fittings, construction materials, any costs related to tools and machinery, any hire rates, legislative costs, overheads, special structures, any costs related to other trades. Job is costed accurately (GST inclusive). Outcome 3 Manage the effect of variations to job on costing. Evidence requirements 3.1 Variations to the job are communicated in writing to other affected parties and approval(s) obtained. 3.2 Variations are costed accurately.
