NQF Ref 1179 Version 1 Page 1 of 6 National Certificate in Civil Infrastructure Health, Safety, and Environment (Supervision) Level 4 Credits 66 Purpose This qualification is designed for people working in civil infrastructure industries who, in supervising the work of others, have responsibility for their health and safety, and for protecting the environment. The compulsory section specifies the essential communication, training, and safety management skills required for forepersons and supervisors in the industry. The elective section allows people to select outcomes relevant to their particular work. Knowledge and skills covered in the elective section include traffic management, notifiable works, planning for confined space work, incident investigation, slinging, lifting, and placing with an excavator or loader, and/or working with hazardous substances. This qualification leads on from the National Certificate in Civil Infrastructure Health, Safety, and Environment (Operations) (Level 3) [Ref: 1178] and can be a stepping stone to the National Certificate in Civil Construction Supervision with optional strands in Demolition, Drainage, Earthworks, Survey and Set Out, High Capacity Highways, Road Construction, Road Maintenance, Traffic, and Training [Ref: 0209]. Some unit standards in this certificate are in the National Certificate in Civil Construction Works (Foreperson) with optional strands in Kerb and Channel, Concreting, High Capacity Highways, and Roading [Ref: 0208]. Award of NQF Qualifications Credit gained for a standard may be used only once to meet the requirements of this qualification. Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. The table of mutually exclusive standards is provided in the Qualifications Authority Rules and Procedures publications available at www.nzqa.govt.nz/ncea/. Reviewed standards that continue to recognise the same overall outcome are registered as new versions and retain their identification number (Id).
