People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of: bench surfaces; door, end panel and drawer surface materials; and kitchen wall protection, for use in a kitchen design. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Demonstrate knowledge of bench surfaces for use in a kitchen design. Evidence requirements 1.1 The requirements of a bench surface are identified and described in terms of the benefits for a kitchen design. Range requirements include but are not limited to – heat resistant, stain resistant, easy to clean, non-porous, shock absorbent. Range 1.5 materials include but are not limited to – timber, stainless steel, natural stone, engineered stone, laminate, acrylics, glass. Range 2.2 Advantages and disadvantages of different types of door, end panel and drawer surface materials are identified and compared in terms of their use for a kitchen design. Range 2.3 surface materials include but are not limited to – low pressure laminates, high pressure laminates, lacquer, glass overlays, paint finish, stainless steel, solid timber, veneer. Care and maintenance for different types of door, end panel and drawer surface materials are identified and described in terms of a kitchen design. Range 2.4 surface materials include but are not limited to – low pressure laminates, high pressure laminates, lacquer, glass overlays, paint finish, stainless steel, solid timber, veneer. evidence of three different types of door, end panel and drawer surface materials is required. Range 3.2 Care and maintenance for different types of kitchen wall protection are identified and described in terms of a kitchen design. Range 3.3 evidence of three different types of kitchen wall protection is required.
