People credited with this unit standard are able to prepare an elevated platform vehicle for an arboriculture site, and use and elevated platform vehicle for arboriculture works. Elevated platform vehicles include trucks fitted with hydraulic and/or extending booms, and trailers similarly fitted. Power may be supplied from the truck’s engine or from a separate engine. Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Prepare an elevated platform vehicle for an arboriculture site. Performance criteria 1.1 Vehicle is checked and serviced in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturer’s instructions. Range 1.2 to include inspection of all safety features. Arboriculture site is selected in accordance with required functions, workplace procedures and manufacturer’s instructions. Range to include – ground stability and gradient, safe access, overhead obstacles. 1.3 The vehicle is stabilised in accordance with the Codes of Practice, workplace procedures and manufacturer’s instructions. 1.4 Signage is erected or other precautions to secure the arboriculture site are taken in accordance with the Codes of Practice and workplace procedures. Element 2 Use an elevated platform vehicle for arboriculture works. Performance criteria 2.1 On site pre-use checks are carried out in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturer’s instructions. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 17259 version 3 Page 3 of 3 2.2 Vehicle is operated for arboriculture purposes in accordance with Codes of Practice, workplace procedures and manufacturer’s instructions. 2.3 Vehicle is converted to travelling format after the job is finished in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturer’s instructions. 2.4 The site is left as specified in contract. Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
