Purpose
This unit standard is for people in the automotive repair industry. People
credited with this unit standard are able to: determine storage arrangements;
prepare a vehicle or machine for storage; store and service a vehicle or
machine; and re-commission a stored vehicle or machine to serviceable use.

Definition
Company requirements refer to instructions to staff on policy and procedures which
are documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace.
These requirements include but are not limited to – company specifications and
procedures, work instructions, manufacturer specifications, product quality
specifications, and legislative requirements.

Elements and performance criteria
Element 1
Determine storage arrangements.
Performance criteria
1.1
Storage details are obtained and recorded in accordance with company
requirements.
Range
may include but is not limited to – owner details, vehicle or
machine vehicle identification number (VIN), make, model, colour,
registration number, accessories fitted, general visual condition,
distinguishing features.
1.2
Site of storage is established and agreed to by the owner and employer.
1.3
Insurance cover is confirmed in accordance with customer insurance policy
requirements.
Range
1.4
one of – Comprehensive, 3rd Party, 3rd Party Fire and Theft.
Storage costs are established and agreed to by the owner.
Element 2
Prepare a vehicle or machine for storage.
Performance criteria
2.1
The method of storage preparation is determined and agreed to by all parties
involved.
2.2
The storage service schedule is determined and agreed to by all parties.
2.3
The storage preparation is carried out in accordance with the service schedule.
Element 3
Store and service a vehicle or machine.
Performance criteria
3.1
Service checks are maintained in accordance with the service schedule and
company requirements.
3.2
Security and safety of storage item are maintained in accordance with company
requirements.

Element 4
Re-commission a stored vehicle or machine to serviceable use.
Performance criteria
4.1
The item is re-commissioned in as close to the same condition as possible, to
that prior to storage in accordance with company requirements.
4.2
Stored item is made available to the owner in accordance with company
requirements.
Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
